ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

Metamorphosis is an immersive film and live dance experience following a being through a surreal transformation.

Suspended underwater, she moves through a vast, dreamlike world, weightless and solitary. Her body drifts, falls and floats as panoramic images surround you, dissolving the boundaries of the space.

Then she emerges.

The figure from the film appears live, curled tightly in a fetal position, as though arriving into the world for the first time. What begins as a strange, synthetic birth unfolds into an increasingly expansive and visceral dance: a body discovering itself, its surroundings, and a new way of being.

Moving between screen and physical presence, Metamorphosis draws you into the intimate and otherworldly experience of becoming something new.

THE DOME EXPERIENCE

The journey begins beneath the surface, on a 360° screen that surrounds you completely. As the underwater film plays out around you, a real dancer enters the space and performs in front of you while the visuals continue to move across the screen. The line between film and live performance dissolves, and you're no longer watching from the outside. You're inside it.

Filmed in 360° and made for the dome, Metamorphosis is a world built from the ground up for this space. The score, the dance and the visuals were all created together, for you to step inside.

WHAT YOU'LL EXPERIENCE

Film and Live Performance, Together
A dancer who begins on screen and then appears in the room, moving through a world projected all around you.

A Journey of Transformation
From weightless, underwater solitude to a physical, expansive dance of discovery.

Dance Beyond the Stage
Created to bring contemporary dance beyond the traditional stage, Metamorphosis invites audiences of all backgrounds into an immersive encounter with movement, film and sound.

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

"I'm interested in taking dance beyond traditional performance spaces and exploring how movement can exist in dialogue with film, sound, image and the world around us. For me, movement is a way of telling stories and provoking feelings without the need for words.

With Metamorphosis, I wanted to explore the relationship between film and live performance as a way of making that experience more immediate and visceral. At its heart is something deeply familiar: change. Our identities and our sense of self are constantly evolving, and Metamorphosis uses the body to give physical form to that process of becoming."
